CEGN - Natural Gas Center of Excellence
When new demands of research in the area of natural gas appeared with the discovery of pre-salt in 2008, Coppe created together with Petrobras the excellence center for natural gas (CE-GN). The objectives of the center are to develop studies and technologies for natural gas and to turn the knowledge produced in the labs and UFRJ research units into products, processes and services. The Excellence Center for Natural Gas (CEGN - Centro de Excelência em Gás Natural) includes the following labs and institutions:
- Centro Rio+, The Laboratory for Acoustics and Vibrations (LAVI - Laboratório de Acústica e Vibrações) and the Laboratory for Applied Thermodynamics and Molecular Simulation (ÁTOMS - Laboratório de Termodinâmica Aplicada e Simulação Molecular) will be soon settled within the CE-GN.
- H2CIN - Laboratory of Hydrorefining, Process Engineering and Applied Thermodynamics (Laboratório de Hidrorrefino, Engenharia de Processos e Termodinâmica Aplicada);
- PAM - Laboratory for Membrane Separation and Polymers (Laboratório de Processos de Separação com Membranas e Polímeros);
